Cantenac_label.jpgWinery: Château La Croix Cantenac
Region:
Bordeaux
Locale:
Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, France
Appellation: Saint-Émilion Grand Cru
Designation: AOC

Site: Saint-Émilion Grand Cru; chalk and clay soils.

Grapes: 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Partially hand harvested.

Fermentation and Aging: Vinification is fairly standard, with a three week vatting period, and ageing is carried out in oak. The barrels come from a variety of different cooperages; they are all French medium-toast and one third are renewed each year.

Notes: The dominance of the Merlot in this blend is very apparent in the nose of the wine, which shows lush cherry notes. In the mouth, the wine is smooth and elegant and structured.
