Calabrise (Calabrese)

Ippolito_Calabrise_back.jpgWinery: Ippolito
Region:
Calabria
Locale:

Appellation: Passito Bianco
Designation: IGT

Grapes: 100% Calabrese, hand harvested in the beginning of October

Fermentation and Aging: The grapes undergo a long maceration on the skins. The wine is bottled after just 7 months in stainless steel tanks, preserving the fruitiness of the original grapes.

Notes: Dark red in color with bright purple hues, with complex aromas of red fruits, black cherries, plums and black pepper. Juicy, full and fruit-driven, with gorgeous ripe red fruit flavors balanced by gentle tannin and wonderful minerality. Ideal with all the typical and tasty Mediterranean dishes!

After a period of experimentation on Calabrese, an ancient and native grape of Southern Calabria, this wine was born from Ippolito's pursuit to discover and enhance the regional ampelographic heritage. "A gift to our land and its people."
