Lugana

ca-lojera-lugana.jpgWinery: Ca' Lojera
Region:
Lombardia (Lombardy)
Locale:
Sirmione (Brescia) Italy
Appellation: Lugana
Designation: DOC

In a few words: This wine has a strong, fruity personality

Site: White Lugana clay, relatively flat, south shore of Lago di Garda’s original watershed.

Grapes: 100% Turbiana, hand harvested only from the estate’s vineyards

Turbiana is also known as Trebbiano di Lugana, and has no relationship to the Trebbiano found in Tuscany and other areas of central and southern Italy.

Fermentation and Aging: Settled in stainless steel and bottled in the spring following the vintage. About 80K bottles produced.

Notes: White wine with a colour range spanning from brilliant straw yellow to marked greenish highlights, with golden reflections with ageing. It has a pleasant bouquet of melons and tangerines with mint accents and some floral notes on the nose and a strong fruity personality on the palate. The wine shows a lovely saline minerality which is typical for top Lugana. Excellent as an aperitif, or with pasta, seafood and freshwater fish.
