Winery: Azienda Agricola Monte del Fra'
Region: Veneto, Italy
Appellation: Custoza
Designation: DOC
In a few words: A fine, lightly aromatic wine with roundness, and just the perfect amount of acidity to support the fruit.
Site: From Custoza, a small hamlet in the commune of Sommacampagna, situated to the south-east of Lake Garda. The climate is Mediterranean and temperate, creating a favorable microclimate for vine cultivation; precipitation is evenly distributed throughout the year. At 100-150 meters above sea level, days are warm and nights are cool. Hills of glacial origin with limestone, clay, gravelly and sandy soils.
Grapes: 40% Garganega, 15% Trebbiano toscano, 15% Trebbianello, 30% Cortese. Guyot training with 4,000 to 4,800 vines per hectare. The yield is 2 kg per vine. Harvested from mid-September to the first ten days of October.
Fermentation and Aging: Brief cold soak, followed by soft pressing and fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks.
Notes: Straw yellow in color, with pale green highlights. Fruity on the nose, with notes of white flowers and green apple. Dry, tangy and well-balanced on the palate. An excellent aperitif, but also good with hors d’oeuvres, rice and pasta dishes, shellfish and fish in general.
