Winery: Terre di Sava
Region: Salento (Puglia)
Locale: Sava, Italy
Appellation: Puglia
Designation: IGT
In a few words: Deep ruby red colour with violet reflections; intense aroma, fruity, with notes of plum and cherry, spicy, with rosemary and vanilla scent. A full-bodied wine, soft and balanced, easy to drink.
Site: Grown in top-quality vineyards entirely within the Primitivo di Manduria DOC zone.
Grapes: 100% hand-picked Primitivo from vines up to 80 years old.
Fermentation and Aging: Vinified in stainless steel fermenting deposits, kept cool below ground.
Notes: The Primitivo di Manduria DOC requires a minimum of 14% alcohol. In the case of Luccarelli, the grapes are picked a bit before full phenologic ripeness in order to preserve freshness and acidity and don’t reach 14% alcohol; the goal is to produce a balanced wine, not Port! Therefore the wines are declassified to IGT Puglia. Primitivo di Manduria is rumored to achieve DOCG status in the near future.
