Winery: Gracciano della Seta
Region: Montepulciano
Locale: Gracciano, Italy
Appellation: Vino Nobile di Montepulciano
Designation: DOCG
In a few words: This wine's got it all.
Site: Vines grow in the clay and silty soil on the hills of Gracciano - one of the oldest and most prestigious crus of Montepulciano - at 300-350 meters above sea level.
Grapes: Prugnolo Gentile 90%, Merlot 10%
Fermentation and Aging: Fermentation and maceration on the skins in stainless steel vats at controlled temperature with local yeasts for about 20-25 days. Aged 24 months; the first 12 months in French oak tonneaux, and the remaining months in Slavonian oak casks. Aged in bottle at least 6 months.
Notes: Ruby red, almost garnet in color. Intense, complex, yet delicate on the nose, with hints of violet, morello cherry, ripe plum, red berries, leather, spices. Dry, with velvety tannins; balanced, elegant, with a persistent and vibrant finish. A wine for meditating or enjoying alongside typical Tuscan dishes such as Florentine steaks, roasts, game and mature cheeses.
