Winery: Ca' del Baio
Region: Piedmont
Locale: Treiso (Barbaresco)
Appellation: Langhe Nebbiolo
Designation: DOC
In a few words: A fresh, easy-drinking Nebbiolo. Obtained by carefully selecting grapes from several different vineyards, it revives a never-forgotten tradition.
Site: Various vineyards in the villages of Barbaresco and Treiso, containing soils of clayey-limestone marl. Harvest between late September and early October.
Grapes: 100% Nebbiolo
Fermentation and Aging: Both the brief maceration and the alcoholic fermentation take place in stainless steel at a controlled temperature. The wine then matures in the same tanks for around 4 months before bottling.
Notes: Garnet red with ruby reflections. Aromas of fragrant dried flowers, geraniums and slight fruity overtones reminiscent of raspberries. Dry, warm and soft on the palate; slightly tannic and very easy-drinking. Serving it slightly chilled only adds to its appeal. Goes well with fresh cold cuts, slightly mature cheeses and Italian-style pasta with ragù, as well as more simple red meat dishes such as hamburgers or beef carpaccio. It will keep well for several years in the bottle.
