Dolcetto BACK 20.jpgWinery: Ca' del Baio
Region: Piedmont
Locale: Treiso (Barbaresco)
Appellation: Dolcetto d'Alba
Designation: DOC

In a few words: This classic Piedmontese wine encapsulates the simple pleasures of everyday life.

Site: Vineyards of medium consistency calcareous clay, planted in 1961. Harvest in mid-September.

Grapes: 100% Dolcetto

Notes: Ruby red with purplish highlights. Intense and vinous on the nose, with delicate fruity overtones reminiscent of cherries, wild strawberries and blackberries. Dry, with good balance and acidity, and a nicely almondy finish. This wine pairs nicely with everyday fare, from Italian-style pasta to roast poultry and fries; perfect at any time of day with a snack of cheese and cold meats.

Though generally enjoyed young from as soon as the spring following the vintage, it will stay fragrant for up to 2-4 years in the cellar.
