Pinot Grigio

Gran_Sasso_PinotGrigio.jpgWinery: Gran Sasso
Roseto degli Abruzzi (Roseto), Italy
Appellation: Terre Aprutini
Designation: IGT

Site: Grapes are grown south of Roseto near Ortona, in well-ventilated, high-altitude vineyards.

Grapes: 100% Pinot Grigio

Fermentation and Aging: Stainless steel.

Notes: Pinot Grigio is a new project for the winery, the first vintage being 2008. We were amazed by the quality achieved in a region not known for producing distinctive Pinot Grigio. That the wines are vinified by Marco Flacco - one of the top winemakers for white wines in Italy - helps explain their quality.
